SRIKALAMKARI – The Art of Authentic Kalamkari
Authentic Srikalahasti Kalamkari, hand-drawn and hand-painted by master artisans over weeks and months. Each saree is a singular work of art, carrying the unmistakable touch, patience and story of the hand that created it.
Srikalamkari was born from a simple promise: every saree must honour the the hand that painted it. We work directly with master artisans to create limited, handloom-based pieces that carry the spirit of Srikalahasti from its temple town to wardrobes around the world. In doing so, we seek to preserve a centuries-old artistic tradition by placing it in the hands of collectors who understand the value of rarity, craftsmanship and heritage.

THE CRAFT
Every Line is drawn by hand with the Kalam – a traditional bamboo pen dipped in colours prepared from natural materials such as indigo, pomegranate and rusted iron. Mythological motifs are never simply printed; they are painted free hand, detail by detail, through weeks and sometimes months of patient work. Each saree carries not only a story, but the quiet labour, skill and unmistakable signature of the artisan who brought it to life.
01
The free hand temple style of kalamkari traces to the artisan communities of Srikalahasti in Andhra Pradesh, where the craft was passed from hand to hand across generations
02
Every colour is drawn from earth – indigo, pomegranate rind, myrobalan, and iron – fixed through repeated washing and sun-drying, never a synthetic shortcut in sight.
03
The motifs are not decoration alone – they are epics rendered in cloth, drawing on temple murals and mythological narratives that have travelled centuries.
